Welcome to the Oxford University Lacrosse Club (OULC) website
Whatever you need to know about Lacrosse at Oxford, the chances are that you'll find the answer here. If not, please feel free to contact any of the Captains, details of whom can be found under Contacts, or me (OULC President 2015/2016), Robert.Conway@gtc.ox.ac.uk
Lacrosse is a thriving sport here at Oxford. OULC represents no fewer than five teams: the Women’s and Men’s first (‘Blues’) teams, the Women’s and Men’s second teams ('Swifts' and ‘Iroquois’ respectively) and the Mixed team. All five teams play in weekly league games and participate in the annual Varsity match against Cambridge. OULC also organise the intercollegiate competitions ('Cuppers'), which sees hundreds of students across the University participating in the sport, regardless of previous experience.
The 2015-6 season saw Oxford host the 100th Varsity matches. We welcome Oxford alumnus and ex-CEO of English Lacrosse David Shuttleworth, who presented the trophies. Overall the day was a success, with wins from both Men's teams and the Swifts and the Oxford Mixed team narrowly losing in a golden goal after a close fought match. In the league matches, all teams performed well and the cementing of a men's 2nd team prove the growing interest and recruitment in the sport. Individuals in the club are also excelling in the sport, with members of the women's team participating in England's bronze medal haul in the World Cup, and members of the men's team representing the South of England. We look forward to building on the success of the past 12 months, hopefully culminating in another highly successful Varsity in Cambridge in 2017. We are also looking to further strengthen our alumni links through events such as alumni day and the alumni matches at Varsity.
Off the pitch, OULC is known for being a fun and sociable club, with weekly events and get-togethers arranged by our social secretaries. We're also keen to build our Alumni links, so if you've played lacrosse at Oxford in the past, we'd love to hear from you.
Whether you’re a lacrosse newbie or a seasoned player, OULC offers a great way to stay fit and meet new people in a fun, sporty setting.
OULC is also looking for a new sponsor, so if you are a business and are interested, please do not hesitate to contact me via email.
We look forward to seeing you all during the forthcoming season.
